Short Circuit: Fused is the next podcast from DJ BennyK and is taken from his live set and debut atSplash Bar in New York City for Fusion Thursdays. For those of you who don’t know, Fusion is about bringing the best NYC nightlife has to offer into one night! Varied DJs, mixed musical genres, styles, themes, and crazy fun for the people that love to party at one of New York City’s longest running mega clubs known all around the world! Splash is certainly a venue BennyK knew he wanted to spin at long before living in NYC and BennyK got his chance playing for the boys of Fusion in Splash’s all new Wet Lounge. Short Circuit: Fused is hour one of his set and is a fusion of House, vocals, a splash of current pop tracks, and perhaps a surprise here and there too. Fused together into one set, Short Circuit: Fused features such vocalists as Corey Andrews, Terri B., Dawn Tallman, Suzanne Palmer, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, and Rebeka Brown who appears on a few tracks heard in this fused session of Short Circuit and is a new personal BennyK favorite. The producers featured in Short Circuit: Fused are: Peter Brown, Jesse Garcia, David Penn, Eddie Thoneick, the Bingo Players, Oscar G, Pablo Kopanos, Manuel Moore, Ivan Gomez, Nacho Chapado, Peter Rauhofer, and Edson Pride. Madonna, Beyonce, Rihanna, Pink, Sia, Maria Carey, Florence Welch, Jeanie Tracy, The Scisssor Sisters, and Rebeka Brown are the artists and vocalists that fuse this peak hour session of Short Circuit. Fused, Part 2, taken once again from BennyK’s live set and debut at Splash Bar in New York City for Fusion Thursdays is hour two and a high energy mix of tracks highlighting some of the current and past season’s hottest dance tracks. BennyK has featured several of these tracks in previous sessions of Short Circuit, but here, all in one session, they are freshly mixed, exciting, and different from what BennyK has featured before. Capping off this set, BennyK returns to the track that kicked off his entire Fused session, but once again highlights a different mix to bring this session to a close. That track was Show Me Your Love featuring Rebeka Brown.
Fused, Part 2 includes remixes of all your Pop and Circuit favorites….Circuit Pop as BennyK likes to call it. Helping to create that circuit sound are the producers behind each track. With a return to Fall comes a new session of Short Circuit. Now in it’s second year, Short Circuit has strived to bring you new and exciting music while highlighting those dance floor hits from the current season. However, with a return to Fall BennyK returns to some of those dance floor classics no one will soon forget. Short Circuit: Fall 2012 will still bring you new and exciting music but instead of looking forward we look back to a handful of tracks that helped create so many memorable nights on the dance floor.
Short Circuit: Fall 2012 begins hard and loud, just to catch your attention, but then settles into a smooth progressive house set featuring such vocalists as Amuka, Lisa Pure, Rae, Suzanne Palmer, Xaviera Gold, Ultra Nate, and Barbara Tucker as well as Mariah Carey and Loreen singing their recent hit tracks. Just by listing some of those names do you know which classics made the cut? Some of the classics featured in Fall 2012 are reworked edits recently released where as others are remixes from the original track release. Gavin Creel releases GET OUT

If Jason Mraz and Jewel had a love child, it would be Gavin Creel. On the heels of his powerful equality anthem, “Noise”, Creel releases GET OUT, his third solo album that delivers more folk than pop, but always a quality talent. He’s got the look, he’s got the following and over everything else, he’s got the talent. So why do I feel with GET OUT, something is still missing. All of the songs, with the exception of “Enough”, follow a similar tune and style while revealing a little bit of Creel’s life, then and now. But no song really pushes the album forward to engrave it in our minds. Ultimately, Gavin Creel shines the most when the music is left to simple, pure emotion and no other song gives more of that than “Sooner or Later”, the best song on the album.
I’m always hoping Gavin Creel would write and release a song that rises to the level of Madonna’s “Papa Don’t Preach”. He came so close with “Noise” and attempted to get there with “U Can’t Ignore Me”, but he hasn’t quite hit the mark with that song that encompasses everything- love, anger, disillusion, confusion, passion and heart, all pouring out of the melody. He has the guts, he has the voice, and he has the raw emotion, so why hasn’t he gotten there yet? Maybe he needs a bigger push off the cliff. Until then, keep on eye on Gavin Creel. I see much bigger headlines on him to come.
